Can Dog Whining Be Ever Stopped?

You just brought home a cute little puppy but here’s the catch: it won’t stop whining. Your neighbors are starting to complain and you’re at your rope’s end. You don’t want to get rid of the new pup, but at the same time you want to stop the dog from whining. How do you go about doing this? There are a few ways you can go about stopping your dog from whining. To effectively start a puppy from whining, you can use an electric device that emits a not so pleasant noise every time the puppy starts whining. The other way to stop your dog from whining is to remain consistent with it to tell it to stop whenever you hear the dog beginning to whine. This will require you to be there at all times, or at least most of the time, but with enough time your dog will retain this behavior of not whining and all will be quiet once more. Of course there are other ways to make your dog stop whining, and to stop many other behaviors, but we’ll focus on these two for now.

Sound devices like the one described above to make your dog stop whining don’t cost that much and they don’t hurt the dog. Electronic devices work by emitting an unpleasant sound that only dogs can hear. Imagine if you were to hear a loud piercing squeal every time you ate junk food. Pretty soon you’d probably stop eating junk food because you couldn’t bear to hear that sound ever again. It is the main idea behind such electronic devices that help dogs stop whining. If you’re not sure about the devices and you don’t like the idea of annoying your dog, or you’re fearful that the device will in fact hurt your dog, there are always other ways to go about making your dog stop whining than using these devices.

Consistent Training

The other way to make your dog stop whining is to be there whenever it starts to whine. When it does, make a loud noise or say “no”. Even if it’s really difficult to deal with puppy whining, do not hit the dog. No matter what behavior the puppy shows, pet owners should not result into hitting their puppies. There are other ways to go about making your dog stop whining, or engaging in any other behavior, rather than hitting it. You can slap a newspaper against your hand or just clap your hands together to make your dog stop whatever behavior you want it to. Dogs’ ears are very sensitive, which is why the above devices work so well, and while a newspaper slapping against a palm may not bother you, it definitely bothers the dog. Do this every time the dog whines and do it often. Remain consistent and pretty soon your dog will stop whining and you and your neighbors, will have the peace you desperately deserve.
